Tuition Role: 1:1 Secondary Tutor (SEMH Needs) Hours: 8 hours per week Duration: Until the end of the academic year Delivery: Face‑to‑face tuition About the Role We are seeking an experienced secondary‑trained tutor to provide personalised academic and emotional‑regulation support for a KS3/KS4 learner with SEMH in the Kirkby area (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) The role involves delivering 8 hours of tailored tuition per week focusing on core subject learning alongside confidence‑building and engagement strategies. Learner Profile The student presents with: Social, emotional and mental health needs A need for calm, predictable, highly structured support They will benefit from a tutor who can build trust gradually, adapt learning tasks flexibly, and use positive, low‑pressure approaches to increase engagement and academic confidence. Ideal Tutor Experience supporting young people with SEMH Able to create a nurturing, consistent learning environment Patient, calm, and relationship‑focused Confident adapting learning materials to meet individual needs About the Tutoring Provide 1:1 tuition in core subjects or functional skills Deliver engaging, personalised learning sessions Support learners with varying needs and learning styles Track progress and adapt teaching approaches where needed Work in homes, schools, or community settings depending on placement Requirements Minimum 6 months' experience working in UK schools or tuition experience Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths and/or Science Ability to build positive relationships with students Reliable, organised, and confident working independently A current enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) Interested?
