1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School

Location: Salford
Salary: £95–£100 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Start Date: September 2026

Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a child's educational journey?

Cover People are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Salford for a committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs on a full-time, long-term basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build a positive relationship with one child, helping them access learning, develop confidence and thrive both academically and socially within a supportive school environment.

The Role

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with special educational needs.
Adapt learning activities to suit the child's individual needs and abilities.
Encourage independence, confidence and active engagement in lessons.
Support the child's social, emotional and behavioural development.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCO and external professionals.
Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to the wider school team.

The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting.
Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH or communication needs is desirable.
A calm, patient and resilient approach.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential.
