Additional Needs Assistant – Primary SEN School | Rochdale | Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities

About the Role

As an Additional Needs Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils throughout the school day. Your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
Supporting children with communication, emotional regulation, and social development
Assisting with the implementation of EHCPs and individual learning plans
Helping to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
Creating a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment
Working closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and therapists to ensure consistent support
Supporting with personal care where required

You will:

Have experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH or transferable experience (e.g. care, youth work, coaching, support work)
Be patient, resilient, and nurturing, with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Be confident building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
Be proactive, adaptable, and able to use your own initiative
Be open to ongoing training and professional development
Hold (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
