Alternative Provision Mentor / Teaching Assistant
To provide relationship focused support for young people aged 5 - 25 on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. Contributing to Chill’d CIC’s holistic approach with young people. Identify and facilitate any barriers to engagement using a person-centered approach. Identifying the young person's needs with social, emotional and mental well-being. You will be * Empowering young people to resolve their own issues and help them to develop coping strategies for the future * Modelling a healthy and trusting relationship, through clear communication and appropriate boundaries * Acknowledging their strengths, talents and gifts and helping them to use these * An active listener and offer support, be encouraging and help the young person develop a positive view of themselves and their environment This can be delivered through talking about their interests, engaging with their interests, doing fun tasks together, supporting play, helping them to make positive connections and develop new interests. Key Responsibilities * Supporting young people in a way that helps them to engage in activities offered, taking into account their interests and needs * Have a positive understanding of autism and other neurodiversities * Empower young people * Understand that traditional education has been problematic and the young person may have trauma and require a non-traditional approach to tasks * Recognise progress made and communicate to the team (Chill’d, parents / carers and the young person) * To summarise each session to the team in a positive way to help build relationships and trust * To understand the goals, philosophy, processes and practices of Chill’d CIC and support our future aims * To understand and follow the policies of Chill’d CIC * To safeguard and promote the welfare of students * To attend relevant meetings * To put the needs of the young person first * To be able to react positively and suggest ideas to help the young person Anything else as required by the Directors to fulfill this role
