Applications Engineer – Mechanical Design / Vehicle Integration A growing engineering business is seeking an Applications Engineer to support the design and integration of specialist vehicle-based products. This Applications Engineer role focuses on mechanical and structural design, working closely with internal teams to deliver high-quality engineered solutions. The Applications Engineer will be involved in developing new concepts, producing detailed designs, and supporting prototype builds. This role offers a varied workload, combining CAD design, hands-on testing, and cross-functional collaboration. As an Applications Engineer, you will work on a range of projects involving metal structures, hydraulics, pneumatics, and occasionally electrical systems, ensuring designs are practical, manufacturable, and fit for purpose. Key Responsibilities: * Conceptual design of new products and assemblies * Creation of 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD * Producing assembly drawings and bills of materials * Supporting prototype builds and testing activities * Working closely with suppliers and internal teams * Modifying and improving existing designs * Supporting R&D projects and technical development * Occasional travel to customer sites, suppliers, and exhibitions Requirements: * HND or Degree in Engineering * Strong SolidWorks experience (AutoCAD advantageous) * Mechanical design background (metal structures preferred) * Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics beneficial * Strong attention to detail and methodical approach * Ability to communicate technical ideas effectively * Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment Location: Marden, Kent Working Pattern: Office-based with hands-on project involvement TPA Recruit is a specialist recruitment agency acting on behalf of our client to source and assess suitable candidates for this position.
