Asphalt Plant Manager
We are currently seeking an experienced Asphalt Plant Manager to take overall responsibility for the safety and operational performance of our asphalt plant in Billingham.
Key Responsibilities
* Line management of on-site Plant Supervisors, providing leadership, support, and clear direction
* Full responsibility for budgets and P&L management, including cost control and financial performance
* Month-end P&L reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis
* Experience running projects, including planning, delivery, and performance monitoring
* Involvement in capital expenditure applications, justification, and delivery of approved projects
* Ensure all operations are run in line with HSEQ policies and guidance
* Strong focus on health, safety, and environmental compliance, promoting a positive safety culture
* Conduct regular 1-to-1 meetings, performance reviews, and development discussions
* Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to supervisory and operational teams
* Ensure production targets, quality standards, and customer requirements are consistently met
* Coordinate maintenance planning to ensure plant reliability and uptime
* Ensure adequate resourcing, shift cover, and operational continuity across both sites
* Liaise with senior management, internal stakeholders, and external contractors
* Drive continuous improvement, efficiency gains, and best practice across both operations
* Visually seen onsite, VFL's and interaction.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
* Previous experience operating an asphalt batching plant or working within a quarry/heavy industrial environment
* Good understanding of asphalt mix designs, material properties and quality control standards
* Ability to use computerised batching control systems and interpret production specifications. Basic mechanical knowledge with strong problem-solving skills
* Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements
* Reliable, detail-oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team.
