Assistant Financial Accountant
The Role
In this role, you’ll take ownership of maintaining the integrity of the balance sheet through timely and accurate reconciliations, helping to ensure confidence in financial data across key areas such as revenue, payroll, and VAT. Beyond the numbers, you’ll play an important part in strengthening and improving finance processes, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and high standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure accuracy of the balance sheet by completing thorough reconciliations with fully supported balances
* Monitor and reconcile prepaid vouchers, tracking usage and reporting outstanding or expiring amounts
* Investigate and resolve variances by reconciling ticket and third-party sales with financial records and calculating revenue shares
* Maintain the rooms deposit ledger and prepare quarterly revenue statements with associated revenue share calculations
* Reconcile payroll-related accounts, including NI, pensions, and salary advances
* Assist with VAT return preparation and review, ensuring completeness and accuracy of data
* Support audits by providing detailed financial information and clear explanations for statutory and tax requirements
* Maintain organised and accurate documentation and filing systems
* Contribute to business operations during major events and provide support across the finance team as needed
* Identify and implement improvements to enhance finance processes and efficiency
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will be qualified or part-qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA have previous experience reconciling complex or multi-system data sets. Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate and resolve variances with excellent computer skills including (Work, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook and Accounting Systems).
* High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and completeness
* Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes
* Understanding of revenue recognition, including deferred income
* Ability to completely & accurately follow accounting procedures
* Well-organised and able to work to deadlines
Salary: £36,000 - £45,000 per annum (Dependent on experience)
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week - Hybrid working
Holidays: 25 days holiday + statutory bank holidays
