Assistant Land Surveyor Leicester £24,000 – £32,000 We are working with an established civil engineering and groundworks contractor to appoint an Assistant Land Surveyor to support delivery across large-scale residential developments in the Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their surveying career to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of projects, working alongside experienced engineers and surveyors within a fast-paced environment. The Role As an Assistant Land Surveyor, you will support the surveying function across live construction sites, assisting with setting out, data capture, and reporting. • Assist in carrying out topographical and measured building surveys on site • Support setting out for construction works using GPS, total stations and laser equipment • Help process and interpret survey data using CAD/software (e.g. AutoCAD) • Ensure accuracy of measurements and maintain survey control points • Work closely with site engineers and project teams to support delivery of works • Assist in producing survey reports, drawings and as-built records • Maintain and check survey equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and in good working order • Adhere to health & safety standards and site procedures at all times The Company Our client is a well-established Midlands-based groundworks and civil engineering contractor, delivering infrastructure and residential packages for leading housebuilders. • Established contractor with a strong reputation in the residential groundworks sector • Deliver projects ranging from 100 to 600+ unit housing developments • Long-standing relationships with major UK housebuilders • Full-cycle delivery from earthworks through to final infrastructure Services & Project Scope • Residential groundworks (foundations, drainage, externals) • Roads and sewers (adoptable infrastructure) • Section 278 highway works (access roads, roundabouts) • Bulk earthworks and site preparation • Full subcontract packages including labour, plant, and materials Why Apply? • Strong pipeline of secured work across the Midlands • Clear progression routes into Land Surveyor and Site Engineer roles • Ongoing investment in technology, equipment, and training • Exposure to modern surveying techniques including GPS machine control • Fast-paced, supportive environment ideal for career development
