Skills and Qualifications * Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (MEng/BEng). * Chartered or working towards chartership (e.g., CEng or IEng with a relevant institution such as CIBSE or IMechE). * Proven experience in mechanical design engineering, with a solid understanding of building services engineering. * Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection systems, and other building services. Key Responsibilities * Lead and manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other building services). * Develop detailed mechanical design solutions in accordance with project specifications, local regulations, and industry standards. * Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies to gather technical data for design development. * Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure successful project delivery. * Ensure that mechanical designs are energy-efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective. * Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and designers within the team. * Review and approve technical documentation, calculations, and drawings. * Manage and support the preparation of project budgets, timelines, and resource allocations. * Engage with clients to understand their needs and provide professional advice on mechanical design and systems. * Keep abreast of the latest trends and advancements in mechanical engineering and building services technologies. * Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with clients and stakeholders effectively. * Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team of engineers. * Knowledge of current building regulations, codes of practice, and sustainability standards. * Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
