Role Overview

Optegra is recruiting a Bank Specialty Doctor in Glaucoma for our eye hospital in Bradford BD10, paying up to £65 per hour. Optegra is one of the UK's leading specialist ophthalmology providers, delivering both NHS and privately funded eye care.

This Bank Glaucoma Doctor role suits a GMC-registered ophthalmologist who wants flexible, well-paid clinical sessions in a dedicated glaucoma service without the administrative load of a substantive post.

Pay and Session Information:

* Up to £65 per hour

* Bank contract, sessions booked around your availability

* Based at Optegra Eye Hospital Yorkshire, 937 Harrogate Road, Apperley Bridge, Bradford BD10

* Free on-site parking, four miles from Leeds Bradford Airport

About the Opportunity

You will work alongside the Lead Consultant for Glaucoma and a skilled multi-disciplinary team, running glaucoma consultations, assessing suitability for treatment and building management plans in line with NICE guidance and Optegra clinical policy.

This is a dedicated glaucoma service in a purpose-built eye hospital — you see glaucoma patients, with consultant support and modern diagnostic equipment, rather than fitting glaucoma around a general ophthalmology list.

Key Responsibilities

* Diagnose, assess and manage patients with established or suspected glaucoma and other ocular conditions

* Interpret diagnostic results including IOP, visual fields, OCT, fundus assessment, CCT and gonioscopy

* Build glaucoma management plans in line with NICE and Optegra clinical guidance

* Deliver treatment, including medication management, SLT and PI where appropriate

* Carry out pre-operative and post-operative consultations

* Explain treatment options, risks and benefits clearly to patients, carers and families

* Maintain accurate records on electronic patient systems

* Work with consultants, optometrists, nurses and wider clinical colleagues

* Support audit and service improvement across the glaucoma pathway

* Follow clinical governance, CQC, infection prevention and safeguarding standards

Skills and Experience Required

Essential

* Medical degree from a recognised university

* Current GMC registration with a licence to practise in the UK

* Ophthalmology experience with a focus on glaucoma management

* Gonioscopy competence

* Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills

* Clear communication with patients, carers and colleagues

* Comfortable working independently and within a multi-disciplinary team

* Experience with electronic patient administration or medical record systems

If you are a glaucoma doctor looking for flexible, well-paid bank sessions in a specialist eye care setting, we would welcome your application and look forward to discussing this opportunity with you.
