Behaviour support Teaching Assistant
The Role
You will be supporting pupils who may struggle with challenging behaviour and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, working both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. Your role will be to help pupils stay engaged, develop coping strategies, and access their learning in a positive way.
Key Duties
Support students with behavioural and SEMH needs in and out of the classroom
Use effective strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour
Work closely with teaching staff to maintain a calm and structured environment
Build positive relationships that support pupil development
Track and share progress with staff members
What We're Looking For
Essential: Experience working with children
Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour and/or SEMH
A relevant qualification (e.g. TA, childcare, youth work, psychology) is desirable
Calm, patient, and adaptable approach
Strong teamwork and communication skills
