Powering the Net-Zero Transition Are you an experienced Plant Engineer looking to move away from conventional processes and into the future of low-carbon energy? Join a Tier 1 District Energy Specialist currently investing over £1bn into innovative heat network projects. We are seeking a technically-minded Breakdown Engineer to maintain and optimize large-scale energy centres (1MW+) across London and the South. This is a chance to join a high-growth, "intelligence-led" consultancy that values free-thinking and technical autonomy.
The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, you will be the frontline for reliability across a diverse range of heat networks—from major regeneration projects in London to city-wide systems in Wales. This is a varied, mobile role focusing on mechanical PPMs, reactive fault-finding, and plant remediation. You won’t just be fixing parts; you’ll be reviewing root causes and helping to evolve the efficiency of the UK’s energy infrastructure.
Technical Essentials To be successful in this remit, you must demonstrate:
Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Gas or Plumbing (Commercial Gas tickets are highly desirable; the company will support those willing to work towards them).
Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in commercial plant rooms (>1MW), servicing pumps, actuators, plate heat exchangers, and pressurisation units.
Compliance & Safety: Expert knowledge of safe isolation (mechanical/electrical) and the ability to interpret P&IDs and mechanical schematics.
Key Skills: Water sampling, dosing, and basic fault-finding on HIU models.
Mobility: Full UK Driving License (valid for 12+ months) and a willingness to participate in a 1-in-4 on-call rota.
The Package
Base Salary: £32,500 – £42,500 (DOE).
Bonus: Performance-related discretionary bonus.
