Business Development Director
Location: Field-based (National, primarily London)
£80,000 - £90,000 (DOE) + Car Allowance + Comm
Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm (flexibility required in line with business needs)
This rapidly growing UK multi-service provider is seeking a commercially astute and technically credible Business Development Director to lead the national growth of its Electrical & Energy Solutions division.
With significant investment and expansion, the business is scaling its capabilities across electrical compliance, maintenance, and project delivery, alongside fast-growing energy solutions including LED lighting, solar PV, and EV charging infrastructure.
This is a strategic leadership role with responsibility for driving growth, shaping market positioning, and establishing the organisation as a leading provider of integrated electrical and sustainable energy solutions across the UK.
This role offers full ownership of revenue growth across both traditional electrical services and emerging energy solutions. You will leverage your deep market knowledge and technical understanding to identify opportunities, influence clients, and win high-value contracts.
You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, bridging the gap between commercial strategy and technical delivery—particularly in areas such as LED upgrades, solar PV installations, EV charging (EV/PV), and energy efficiency programmes.
Strategic Growth & Market Leadership
Develop and execute a national growth strategy across:

* Electrical compliance and maintenance (EICR, PPM, remedials)
* LED lighting upgrades and smart lighting solutions
* Solar PV and renewable energy installations
* EV charging infrastructure (EV/PV integration)
* Identify and capitalise on market opportunities within energy transition and sustainability-driven projects
* Drive high-value contract wins across FM, Property, Retail, Industrial, and Public Sectors
* Own revenue, margin, and pipeline targets across all electrical and energy solution lines
Technical & Consultative Sales Leadership
Operate as a subject matter expert in electrical and energy solutions, confidently advising clients on:

* Carbon reduction initiatives and sustainability targets
* Translate technical solutions into clear commercial value propositions
* Lead solution-based selling for complex, multi-disciplinary projects
Senior Client Engagement
* Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders across FM providers, property managers, and procurement teams
* Engage clients in strategic discussions around energy optimisation, lifecycle cost savings, and compliance
* Lead negotiations and secure large-scale, multi-site contracts
* Position the business as a go-to partner for both electrical compliance and energy transformation projects
Leadership & Internal Influence
* Work closely with engineering, estimating, and operational teams to ensure technically robust and commercially viable solutions
* Provide leadership on major bids, particularly those involving renewables, lighting upgrades, and infrastructure projects
* Influence internal strategy by bringing market insight on emerging technologies and client demand
* Support the ongoing development of the Electrical & Energy division
Commercial Excellence & Market Insight
* Maintain strong pipeline visibility and forecasting accuracy
* Provide insight into market trends including:
* Growth in solar PV adoption
* Demand for LED retrofitting and smart lighting
* Expansion of EV charging infrastructure
* Ensure strong commercial governance across pricing, margins, and contract structures
About You
You will be a senior business development leader with a strong blend of commercial acumen and technical electrical knowledge, particularly within energy-efficient and renewable solutions.
Expertise
Proven success in a senior business development or director-level role within: Electrical services / M&E / Facilities Management / Building Services
Strong technical understanding of:
Electrical compliance (EICR, PPM, remedials)
LED lighting systems and upgrade programmes
Solar PV systems and energy generation solutions
EV charging infrastructure and integration (EV/PV)
Demonstrated success winning large, multi-site or national contracts
Strong consultative and solution-based selling capability
Ability to confidently engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Excellent commercial awareness with a focus on ROI-driven solutions
Highly driven, strategic, and results-oriented
Desirable:
Engineering or technical background (electrical or M&E)
Knowledge of industry standards (e.g. NICEIC, BS7671)
Experience with energy efficiency or decarbonisation programmes
Background in delivering or selling renewable or sustainability-focused projects
Experience working with FM frameworks or managing agents
