Business Development Manager
Location: Stafford (UK-wide travel)
Salary: £55,000 basic + uncapped commission
Package: £7,000 car allowance + phone + laptop
This is NOT an account management role. This is a pure new business role.
We are looking for a genuine new business hunter — someone whose instinct is to find opportunities, open doors, and win business.
The Role
This role is focused entirely on new customer acquisition.
You will:
* Identify and target OEMs and manufacturers across the UK
* Engage decision makers and generate new opportunities from cold
* Build a live, active sales pipeline
* Work closely with internal engineering and estimating teams to create commercial solutions
* Present manufacturing capability confidently and professionally
* Negotiate and close profitable new business
* Hand over mature accounts internally — then move on and hunt again
You will not inherit a customer base.
You will build your own.
This role exists to create revenue where none existed before.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Prospecting new OEM and manufacturing customers
* Cold outreach, referrals, networking and LinkedIn engagement
* Booking and attending new business meetings
* Managing opportunities through CRM
* Building technical and commercial proposals
* Negotiating and closing profitable new customer wins
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 6 months:
* A measurable, active pipeline
* Qualified opportunities being quoted
* New OEM/manufacturer relationships opened
* First customer wins secured
Longer term, this role becomes a key driver of strategic growth.
Commission Structure
* 5% commission on all profitable new business won
* Paid for 12 months from first order
* Uncapped
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll need:
* A proven track record of winning new business from cold
* Experience selling into manufacturing, engineering or technical markets
* Confidence dealing with buyers, engineers, operations managers and directors
* Strong commercial instinct
* CRM discipline and pipeline management skills
* High resilience and self‑drive
