We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Technician to support the design and delivery of highway and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate technical drawings and models, working closely with engineers and project teams to develop highway schemes from concept through to construction.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for highway and infrastructure projects
Assist in the design of road alignments, junction layouts, and traffic management schemes
Develop plans, profiles, cross-sections, and construction details
Produce drainage layouts and related infrastructure drawings
Ensure all drawings comply with relevant standards, regulations, and client requirements
Revise and update drawings based on engineer and client feedback
Maintain drawing registers and adhere to document control procedures
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated project delivery
Support the preparation of design packages and technical submissions
Key Requirements
Essential:
Proven experience as a CAD Technician, preferably within highways or civil engineering
Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Civil 3D is highly desirable
Strong understanding of highway design principles and standards
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
High attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable:
Knowledge of UK highway standards (e.g. DMRB, Manual for Streets)
Experience with drainage design and modelling software
Familiarity with BIM processes and standards
HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related field
Key Skills

Problem-solving and analytical thinking
Time management and ability to meet deadlines
Strong organizational skills
