CFD Engineer

Location: Winchester, Hampshire (Hybrid Working Available)

Salary: £60,000-£90,000 per annum + benefits.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Our client is a global engineering consultancy specialising in combustion, emissions reduction, and thermal process optimisation. Working across power generation, biomass, and Energy-from-Waste sectors, they deliver innovative solutions that improve plant performance and support the transition to low-carbon energy.

The Role

We are looking for a talented CFD Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Winchester. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex, real-world energy and industrial projects, using advanced modelling techniques to improve efficiency and reduce emissions.

You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality CFD analysis, supporting the design and optimisation of combustion systems, and contributing to cutting-edge decarbonisation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and run CFD simulations for fluid flow, heat transfer, and combustion systems

Analyse and optimise burner performance, fuel/air mixing, and emissions behaviour

Interpret simulation results and translate findings into practical engineering solutions

Support design and development of low-emission combustion technologies

Produce clear technical reports and present findings to internal teams and clients

Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers across global projects

Participate in occasional site visits for data collection and commissioning support

About You

Essential:

Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering (MEng/MSc/PhD)

Experience using CFD software (e.g. ANSYS Fluent or similar)

Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer

Ability to analyse complex problems and communicate technical findings clearly
Desirable:

Experience in combustion or thermal systems

Background in power generation, biomass, or Energy-from-Waste

Knowledge of turbulence modelling, radiation, or chemical kinetics

Programming/scripting skills (e.g. Python)
