Chartered Landscape Architect – Private Planning Consultancy – Nationwide

Fraser Recruitment is delighted to partner with a respected planning group seeking a Chartered Landscape Architect (CMLI) to lead the delivery of Green Infrastructure strategies, landscape-led masterplanning, and full landscape assessment functions, including LVIA responsibilities.

You will also act as an Expert Witness, representing the Group on landscape and visual matters at planning appeals, inquiries, hearings, and examinations.

The Role

As a Chartered Landscape Architect, you will shape development proposals to respond to:
✔ Landscape character
✔ Site constraints
✔ National Landscape and Green Belt sensitivities

You will provide advice across all planning stages, working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

✅ Undertake full LVIA assessments and landscape character analyses
✅ Provide early design-stage landscape advice to shape development proposals
✅ Prepare proofs of evidence and act as Expert Witness at appeals and inquiries
✅ Lead Green Infrastructure and baseline character appraisals
✅ Develop landscape-led masterplans, mitigation strategies, and parameter plan inputs
✅ Coordinate with ecology, arboriculture, drainage, highways, heritage, and urban design teams
✅ Produce visuals, plans, and written documentation for planning applications and public engagement

About You

✔ Chartered Landscape Architect (CMLI) with experience in LVIA and landscape evidence preparation
✔ Proven track record giving Expert Witness evidence at planning appeals
✔ Strong knowledge of landscape planning, character assessment, design, and UK planning policy
✔ Experience across residential, mixed-use, rural, National Landscape / Green Belt, and major development projects
✔ Familiarity with the National Design Guide 2021 and relevant landscape standards
✔ Able to deliver high-quality, defensible landscape strategies on time and aligned with project programmes

Office Location

The company has offices across the UK. This role can be based out of Preston, Manchester, Bury St Edmunds, Reading, or Exeter.

💷 Salary: £35,000–£50,000 depending on experience and additional skills (e.g., business development/client following)
