Location: Multiple UK locations.
The Role
We're supporting our client, a Tier 1 civil engineering and infrastructure specialist delivering major projects across highways, utilities, and large-scale civils, supported by a multi-billion-pound order book, in their search for a Civil Senior Design Engineer to join a growing Engineering Design team within the water and wastewater sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality civil design solutions across water and wastewater projects
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated design outputs
* Produce and review calculations, technical reports, and design documentation
* Support procurement processes with technical input
* Contribute to engineering governance and continuous improvement initiatives
* Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and early-career engineers
* Engage with clients and stakeholders to develop effective engineering solutions
* Attend design, progress, and site meetings as required
* Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and H&S requirements
About You
* Degree-qualified in Engineering (or equivalent)
* Proven experience within the municipal water and wastewater sector
* Strong understanding of civil design for non-infrastructure assets, including:
* Gravity and pressurised systems (buried and above ground)
* Treatment works components such as tanks, chambers, and inlet/outlet systems
* Experience producing and checking engineering calculations and reports
* Commercial awareness within a contracting or consulting environment
Desirable Experience
* Chartered status (or working towards) with a recognised engineering institution
* Knowledge of hydraulics and hydraulic calculations
* Familiarity with structural design of water-retaining structures (advantageous)
* Experience working with NEC contracts
* Experience supervising or mentoring junior engineers
