Working for the design and build team of a principal contractor in the rail sector, the main purpose of the role is to produce civil and structural designs for a range of schemes, including lineside civils, signalling, telecoms, power and structural buildings. End clients are Network Rail and London Underground.

Responsibilities:

* Create feasibility studies, outline and detailed designs in accordance with client requirements and industry standards

* Ensure designs are buildable and cost-effective

* Oversee CAD technicians producing engineering drawings

* Carry out civil engineering design and assessment for a range of railway infrastructure assets, including equipment bases, bridges, platforms, lineside structures and buildings

* Conduct project planning, programming, cost control

* Report on project progress and expenditure

* Attend project meetings with internal and external stakeholders

* Ensure all designs comply with health and safety legislation and CDM regulations

* Supervise and mentor junior design engineer colleagues, assisting with their ongoing training and development

Requirements:

* Previous experience in civil / structural design, ideally within a rail or infrastructure environment

* Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering

* Experience using Tekla Tedds

* Understanding and experience of Eurocodes

* Knowledge of Network Rail and London Underground design standards and processes

* Driving licence
