CNC Miller - Programmer/Setter/Operator

Location: Bristol

Salary: £41,500 - £44,000 per annum

Shift: Rotating Double Day Shift

THOMAS Professional is recruiting an experienced CNC Miller - Programmer/Setter/Operator to join an established precision engineering manufacturer based in Bristol.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Miller with strong programming and setting capabilities who is confident working independently and producing complex precision components to tight tolerances.

The position operates on a rotating double day shift, alternating between early and late shifts, with an early finish on Fridays.

The Role

As a CNC Miller - Programmer/Setter/Operator, your responsibilities will include:

Programming, setting and operating 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC milling machines

Working with Heidenhain and/or Fanuc controls

Creating, editing and optimising CNC programmes

Producing complex precision components from engineering drawings and specifications

Setting tools, fixtures and work offsets

Setting work offsets using probes and manual methods

Selecting appropriate cutting tools, tool holders and workholding

Optimising speeds, feeds and machining processes

Troubleshooting programme, tooling and machining issues

Monitoring machining operations and making adjustments where required

Carrying out in-process inspection using precision measuring equipment

Ensuring components are produced accurately and to required tolerances

Supporting improvements to quality, cycle times and production efficiency

Completing relevant production and setup documentation
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with:

Previous experience as a CNC Miller Programmer/Setter/Operator

Strong CNC milling and programming experience

Experience with 3, 4 and/or 5-axis CNC machining

Good working knowledge of Heidenhain and/or Fanuc controls

The ability to independently programme, set and operate CNC milling machines

Confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings

Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, offsets, speeds and feeds

Experience producing complex components to tight tolerances

Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and plug gauges

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Excellent attention to detail
Previous experience within precision engineering or a highly regulated manufacturing environment would be advantageous.

Salary & Benefits

£41,500 - £44,000 per annum, depending on experience
