About the Role
WF Tech are recruiting on behalf of a leading precision engineering company for a driven and detail-oriented professional to join as either a Commercial Estimator or, preferably, a Commercial Accounts Manager. This role is central to delivering sustainable business growth by managing key customer accounts and overseeing quoting, purchasing, scheduling, and project delivery with precision.
Main Purpose
Drive sustainable growth by managing commercial accounts, ensuring accuracy in estimating, efficiency in project execution, and excellence in customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
GD&T Compliance
⦁ Ensure strict adherence to GD&T standards across quotations, specifications, and product delivery.
⦁ Champion a “right first time” approach while maintaining compliance with all safety protocols.
Estimating & Quoting
⦁ Accurately estimate components and assemblies from engineering drawings and digital data.
⦁ Capture all GD&T requirements within quotations.
⦁ Prepare clear, consistent, and high-quality quotes with supporting narratives.
Customer Account Management
⦁ Take ownership of customer accounts as the primary technical contact.
⦁ Manage contracts from initial enquiry through to completion.
⦁ Monitor profitability and identify opportunities for cost improvement.
Project Management
⦁ Lead new business projects with structured planning and documentation.
⦁ Drive continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
Purchasing & Supply Chain
⦁ Source materials that meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
⦁ Manage supplier relationships and address performance issues proactively.
⦁ Optimise stock turnover and supply chain efficiency.
Scheduling
⦁ Utilise scheduling software to effectively allocate work orders.
⦁ Ensure timely delivery of projects and maintain clear stakeholder communication.
Customer Service
⦁ Deliver exceptional service with clear and consistent communication.
⦁ Collaborate closely with clients and internal commercial teams.
Continuous Improvement
⦁ Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
⦁ Engage in ongoing training and professional development.
Requirements
⦁ Strong mechanical engineering background with expertise in GD&T, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
⦁ Apprenticeship-trained or equivalent technical experience.
⦁ Excellent communication, negotiation, and IT skills.
⦁ Solution-focused, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
⦁ Experience in technical estimating or a commercial engineering role preferred.
⦁ Experience within low-volume, high-precision manufacturing environments highly desirable.
⦁ Subcontract machining experience advantageous.
Essential:
⦁ Strong understanding of GD&T.
