Job Title: Commercial Gas Engineer Location: Tameside & surrounding areas Start Date: Mid April Contract Type: Permanent (40 hours per week) Benefits: Company van, fuel card, tools, PPE, pension, holidays Overview We’re working with a well-established and reputable contractor delivering mechanical and gas services across local council and public sector projects, including schools, libraries, and other community buildings. They’re looking for a reliable Commercial Gas Engineer who is predominantly site-based but comfortable handling basic office/admin duties when required. This is a stable role with local work, no excessive travel, and a company that treats its engineers properly. Key Responsibilities Installation, servicing, maintenance, and repair of commercial gas systems Working on public sector buildings such as schools, libraries, and council properties Fault finding and reactive maintenance Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) Completing job sheets, service reports, and compliance documentation Liaising with site managers, clients, and the office team Ensuring all works are completed safely and in line with regulations Occasional office-based tasks such as reporting, planning input, or job close-outs Requirements Proven experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer Relevant gas qualifications (e.g. Commercial Gas / ACS) Strong understanding of health & safety and compliance Ability to work independently and manage your own workload Comfortable using basic IT systems for reporting Full UK driving licence (essential) Experience working on public sector or council projects is desirable
