Community Teaching Assistant
Change a Life. One Child at a Time. Let’s be real — some kids just don’t fit into the classroom model. The noise, the pressure, the rules — it doesn’t work for everyone. But every one of those kids still deserves a chance. They just need someone who “gets” them. That’s where you come in. Classroom Recruiters have partnered with a specialist children’s service provider who design bespoke, 1:1 learning and support programmes for young people who’ve struggled in mainstream education. These aren’t typical classroom roles — you won’t be stuck behind a desk passing worksheets around. You’ll be the grown-up who meets that child where they’re at. Some days you’ll be in the park, others in the library, maybe even bowling — because connection comes before concentration. It’s about trust, stability, and the kind of small daily wins that change everything for a child who’s had a tough start. If you need structure and predictability, this role probably isn’t for you. But if you want freedom, purpose, and the chance to genuinely change lives — keep reading. The Nuts and Bolts * Where: Mansfield and surrounding areas * When: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm * Days: 3–5 per week (your choice) * Type: Permanent * Start: ASAP (we’ll happily wait for a notice) * Experience: You’ve worked with children recently — in school, youth work, or care, doesn’t matter. * Qualifications: Teaching assistant qualifications, child care, health and social care or related qualification ideally. We will consider experince and transferable skills. * Driving licence: You’ll need one. You might visit a few settings in a day, and no two days will look the same. What You’ll Actually Be Doing You’ll support children 1:1 who’ve found mainstream classrooms unworkable — helping them grow in confidence, emotional regulation, and engagement. The specialist provider you’ll work with creates tailored learning pathways for each child, so your role is all about helping those plans come to life — and seeing progress that actually means something. There’s no planning, no marking, and no endless paperwork. Just meaningful, hands‑on work that matters. The Kind of People Who Succeed Here Whether you’re a teaching assistant looking for a change, a sports coach after a new challenge, or a swim teacher who’s always wanted to work in an educational setting — we want to hear from you. If you’ve spent at least 6–12 months working with children and can talk passionately about why you’d be a great fit, we’ll support you with the rest. What You Get * Purpose that feels real. You’ll go home knowing you’ve done something worthwhile. * Respect from a team that actually cares. This provider’s got a strong local reputation for doing things properly. * Training that sets you up to succeed. A week-long induction, shadowing senior staff, and ongoing guidance. * Growth. After six months, you’ll have the option to start a fully funded Level 3 TA qualification — if you don’t already have one. Complete it, and you move up the pay scale. It’s there if you want it, not forced if you’re already there. If you’re patient, calm, and know how to build trust with kids who’ve had a rough ride — you’ll fit right in. If you’re after an easy ride, you won’t. This job isn’t for everyone. But it might be exactly what you’ve been looking for. Classroom Recruiters welcomes applicants from all backgrounds. The only non‑negotiable here is empathy. Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
