We Build Recruitment are looking for an experienced Contracts Manager with a strong Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) background to oversee the successful delivery of multiple construction projects on behalf of our client.

This role is ideal for someone who understands both the technical complexity of M&E systems and the commercial and operational demands of a main contractor environment.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while managing teams, subcontractors, and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Contract Management

* Oversee multiple projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover

* Ensure all contracts are administered effectively, including variations, risk management, and compliance

* Monitor programme progress and implement corrective actions where required

* Ensure adherence to all contractual obligations and company procedures

M&E Oversight

* Provide technical leadership on all Mechanical & Electrical elements across projects

* Review designs, specifications, and drawings to ensure buildability and compliance

* Coordinate M&E subcontractors and ensure integration with wider construction activities

* Identify and resolve technical issues during construction

Commercial & Financial Control

* Work closely with Commercial teams to manage budgets, forecasts, and cost control

* Review valuations, variations, and final accounts

* Ensure projects meet financial targets and margin expectations

Health, Safety & Compliance

* Promote a strong health & safety culture across all projects

* Ensure full compliance with HSE regulations and company policies

* Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions

Stakeholder Management

* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors

* Lead project meetings and provide regular progress updates

* Act as the main point of contact for key stakeholders

Team Leadership

* Manage and support Project Managers, Site Managers, and site teams

* Drive performance, accountability, and continuous improvement

* Mentor junior staff and support their development

Key Requirements

Experience

* Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager within a main contractor

* Strong background in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems and delivery

* Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously

* Demonstrated success delivering projects across sectors such as commercial, residential, healthcare, or industrial

Qualifications

* Degree or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or Construction Management (preferred)

* Relevant professional memberships (e.g., MCIOB, CEng) desirable

* SMSTS (or equivalent) essential

Skills & Competencies
