This role combines engineering design, functional safety leadership, project delivery, and hands-on operational support within a complex process environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Acting as the site focal point for Functional Safety and SIS compliance

- Leading SIL assessments, SIL verification, and Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS) development

- Designing and implementing control system and instrumentation upgrades

- Specifying instrumentation including pressure, flow, level, temperature, and analytical equipment

- Supporting hazardous area compliance and instrumentation design reviews

- Managing SIS, PLC, and control system modification projects

- Supporting commissioning, testing, and start-up activities

- Providing technical support for operational issues, fault finding, and root cause analysis

- Reviewing vendor packages and technical documentation

- Working closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve plant performance

Requirements

- HNC, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Control, Instrumentation, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline

- Strong experience with Functional Safety standards IEC 61508 and IEC 61511

- Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and SIL verification activities

- Knowledge of hazardous area regulations and BS EN 60079 standards

- Experience specifying and commissioning field instrumentation and control systems

- Background within energy, oil & gas, chemicals, industrial gases, power generation, or other process industries

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability

- Comfortable working directly with plant operations and maintenance teams
