Cover Supervisor
Cover Supervisor Portsmouth Prospero Teaching is looking for confident, adaptable Cover Supervisors to support a range of secondary schools across Portsmouth. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with young people and are confident stepping into the classroom to deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher. Whether you're seeking full-time stability or flexible day-to-day work, this role offers variety, experience, and the chance to build your skills within secondary education. Its ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or anyone with strong classroom or youth-work experience who wants to progress in the education sector. The Role: Deliver pre-planned lessons across multiple subjects Supervise classes in the teachers absence Keep students engaged, on task, and following the lesson plan Manage classroom behaviour and expectations Support learning across KS3 and KS4 Work flexibly between pre-booked cover and short-term assignments Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures Ideal Candidate: Experience working with young people (school, tutoring, coaching, youth work, mentoring, etc.) Confident managing a classroom environment Adaptable and comfortable covering a range of subjects Strong communication and leadership skills Reliable, positive, and proactive Graduates or aspiring teachers encouraged to apply Contract Details: Position: Cover Supervisor Location: Portsmouth Start: ASAP Contract: Full-time or flexible / day-to-day Rate: Up to GBP130 per day Key Stages: KS3 - KS4 Experience, Training & Safeguarding: Experience working with children or young people required Classroom management experience beneficial Safeguarding training available if needed Eligibility: Right to work in the UK Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply) Two professional references What Prospero Teaching Offers: Free accredited CPD including safeguarding & behaviour management Flexible work to match your availability Support from a dedicated Training & Development Team Opportunities to progress into teaching or long-term school roles If you're confident, adaptable, and ready to support classrooms across Portsmouth, wed love to hear from you.
