Secondary Cover Supervisor  Location: Portsmouth Start Date: ASAP Pay: £90 – £130 per day (based on experience/qualifications) Hours: 8:00am – 3:30pm Contract Type: Full-time, long-term with potential for permanent placement The Role Supply Desk is working with a well-regarded secondary school in Portsmouth to recruit a full-time Cover Supervisor for September 2025. This is a long-term opportunity, with the potential to become permanent. As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll manage classrooms across a range of subjects—including Maths, History, and Geography—for Key Stage 3 and 4. Lessons are pre-planned; your main responsibility is to supervise, maintain behaviour, and ensure students stay engaged. This role is perfect for individuals considering a career in teaching or those with previous education experience. About the School Mixed secondary school (ages 11–16) Around 800 pupils enrolled Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted Inclusive, supportive environment with a strong leadership team Candidate Requirements We are looking for individuals who: Have experience working with secondary-aged students (e.g. as a cover supervisor, TA, or tutor) Are confident in managing classroom behaviour Are flexible, reliable, and professional Hold a degree or equivalent qualification Are willing to cover various subjects Hold a DBS on the Update Service (or are willing to apply) Applications are encouraged from qualified teachers and those with relevant education experience.
