Data Protection Manager
A leading organisation within the professional services sector is seeking an experienced Data Protection Manager to play a key role in shaping and embedding a robust data privacy framework across the business.
This is a senior, highly visible position responsible for driving data protection strategy, leading a small specialist team, and ensuring compliance with evolving privacy regulations. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement, acting as a trusted advisor across the organisation while maintaining a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
Reporting into senior leadership, the Data Protection Manager will take ownership of data protection and privacy initiatives across a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. Working closely with teams across technology, governance, and security, you will help embed best practice and ensure compliance is effectively integrated into business processes.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and developing data protection strategy in line with regulatory requirements
* Acting as the subject matter expert on UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and relevant international frameworks
* Building strong relationships across the business to promote a culture of privacy and compliance
* Overseeing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advising on risk mitigation
* Managing data breach processes, including response, reporting, and continuous improvement
* Developing and maintaining privacy policies, procedures, and notices
* Ensuring appropriate data sharing agreements are in place
* Delivering training and awareness programmes across the organisation
* Leading and mentoring a small data protection team
About You:
* Proven experience in a Data Protection or Privacy leadership role
* Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and Data Protection legislation, with exposure to international regulations advantageous
* Relevant certifications such as CIPP/E and/or CIPM
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior level
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
* Experience managing competing priorities within a complex environment
* A collaborative approach with the ability to drive cultural change
