DDSL & Inclusion Lead - Doncaster
Location: Doncaster Contract: Temp to Perm Reports to: SLT Job Purpose To lead on all aspects of student inclusion, pastoral support, and SEN, ensuring a high-quality learning environment for all students. The role involves acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) to support the safeguarding team, manage a caseload of vulnerable students, and liaise with external agencies. Key Responsibilities Inclusion & SEND Leadership Strategic Lead: Develop and implement strategies to support students with SEND, English as an Additional Language (EAL), and pastoral needs. Intervention Planning: Plan and deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to boost academic and social progress. Provision Management: Monitor and track the progress of students receiving additional support. Alternative Provision: Manage relationships with alternative providers if necessary. Parent/Carer Liaison: Act as a key point of contact for families regarding inclusion and welfare. Safeguarding & DDSL Duties Case Management: Act as a first point of contact for staff for child protection issues and manage a caseload of complex cases. Reporting & Referrals: Report concerns to appropriate agencies (e.g., social services) in a timely manner. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, secure, and up-to-date safeguarding logs. Support & Training: Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and offer advice to staff regarding pastoral concerns. Meetings: Attend and prepare reports for child protection conferences, LAC reviews, and Team Around the Family meetings. Person Specification Experience: Proven experience in a school-based inclusion, pastoral, or SEND role. Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or high-level experience in SEN/Pastoral support. SENCo qualification is highly desirable. Knowledge: Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance. Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
