Position: Deputy Head of English Location: Salisbury Start Date: September 2026 Contract Type: Long-term (with strong potential for permanent appointment) Pay: £170 – £250 per day (depending on experience) About the Role We are seeking an ambitious and dedicated Deputy Head of English to join a thriving secondary school in Salisbury from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced English teacher or current middle leader looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will support the Head of Department in leading a well-established English faculty, contributing to curriculum development, raising attainment across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, and driving high standards of teaching and learning. You will also play a key role in mentoring colleagues, supporting intervention strategies, and ensuring all students are challenged and supported to achieve their full potential. About the School This is a larger-than-average secondary school with approximately 900–1,100 students on roll, serving a diverse catchment area in Salisbury. The school has been graded “Good” by Ofsted, with particular strengths highlighted in leadership, behaviour, and the quality of education.
