Salary: £168.80 - £261.78 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher to join a well-regarded secondary school in Durham on a full-time basis. This role will start after May half term 2026 and will run as a maternity cover until Christmas 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment, delivering engaging and high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will inspire students through creative and practical learning, helping them develop technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence within Design & Technology.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering structured lessons, assessing and monitoring student progress, and maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment. A strong understanding of health and safety within workshop settings is essential, alongside the ability to manage practical lessons effectively and safely.

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level
Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills
Confidence delivering both practical and theory-based lessons
Knowledge of workshop health and safety regulations
Two professional references covering the last two years
A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
A proactive, reliable, and adaptable approach to teaching
