Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer – Contract (6 Months) Derby £30 per hour We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support a busy engineering team on a 6-month contract. This role will focus on updating and improving existing mechanical designs, restructuring legacy engineering documentation, and supporting ongoing product development activities. Key Responsibilities Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks Update and reorganise legacy CAD drawings and assemblies Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) Produce detailed manufacturing drawings including GD&T Support engineering change processes and design documentation updates Work closely with manufacturing and service teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable Assist with design improvements and minor redesign workRequirements Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in a manufacturing or engineering environment Strong SolidWorks 3D CAD skills Experience creating and managing BOMs Strong experience producing manufacturing drawings and technical documentation Experience working with large assemblies and legacy design data Good understanding of GD&T and design for manufacturing (DFM)This is a great opportunity to join an established engineering team supporting the development and improvement of complex mechanical systems.
