Design Engineer – Tooling (SolidWorks)
This position would suit someone who enjoys solving practical engineering problems and working closely with manufacturing teams to deliver efficient, high-quality tooling solutions.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for designing a range of tooling (jigs, fixtures, and other production tooling) to support manufacturing operations. The role offers a good mix of design, collaboration, and hands-on involvement with production.
Key Responsibilities
* Design tooling using SolidWorks, from initial concept through to final release
* Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for manufacture
* Work closely with shop floor and production teams to refine and improve designs
* Support prototyping, testing, and continuous improvement activities
* Ensure designs are cost-effective, manufacturable, and meet quality standards
What I’m Looking For
* Proven experience as a Design Engineer within a manufacturing environment
* Strong SolidWorks experience (essential)
* Background in tooling design (jigs, fixtures, press tools, mould tools, etc.)
* Good understanding of manufacturing processes
* A practical, problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail
Nice to Have
* Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)
* Experience working in fast-paced or high-volume manufacturing
