Design & Project Coordinator – Electrical Utilities

Salary:

£40,000–£50,000 DOE

Working Pattern:

Office-based 4 days per week, 1 day working from home

We are working with a rapidly growing Independent Connection Provider delivering electrical connections and utility infrastructure projects across the UK.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Design & Project Coordinator to support their design and project delivery teams from their Blackburn office.

This is an excellent opportunity for somebody with experience in electrical utilities, infrastructure, construction or engineering who enjoys coordinating projects, managing technical information and keeping multiple workstreams moving.

Experience within DNO, IDNO, ICP, LV/HV networks, substations or utility connections would be particularly advantageous.

The Role

As Design & Project Coordinator, you will work closely with Project Managers, Design Engineers, Planners, clients, contractors and utility stakeholders to help ensure projects progress efficiently from design through to construction, commissioning and handover.

Your responsibilities will include:

Coordinating design and project documentation across multiple utility projects

Preparing, issuing and distributing drawings, specifications, technical reports and project correspondence

Maintaining drawing registers, document control logs and revision records

Monitoring design approvals and following up outstanding information

Supporting Project Managers and Design Engineers with project schedules, milestone trackers and action logs

Monitoring key project dates, approvals, commissioning activities and handover requirements

Coordinating technical information between internal teams, clients, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders

Liaising with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs)

Supporting design submissions for LV/HV networks, substations, underground cables, overhead lines and associated utility infrastructure

Maintaining records of RFIs, technical queries, design changes and client comments

Assisting with as-built documentation and project handover packs

Supporting cost tracking, budget updates and project reporting where required

Maintaining project files, permits, approvals, meeting minutes and progress reports

Updating project management and document management systems

Supporting compliance with quality, regulatory and health & safety requirements

Assisting with resource planning and coordination across multiple projects

About You

We are interested in speaking with candidates who have:

Previous experience in a

Project Coordinator, Design Coordinator, Project Support or Design Administration role

Experience within electrical utilities, power, construction, engineering, infrastructure or energy

Knowledge of electrical utility projects involving LV/HV networks, substations, underground cables or utility connections

Experience managing technical documents, drawings and project records

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

Excellent attention to detail

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Confidence dealing with project managers, engineers, clients, contractors and external stakeholders

Experience using document management or project management systems

The ability to work independently while supporting a multidisciplinary project team

Experience with DNO procedures, G81 standards, utility design submissions and technical approval processes would be particularly beneficial.

Experience with AutoCAD, project completion documentation and projects through construction, commissioning and handover would also be advantageous.

Package

£40,000–£50,000 per annum, dependent on experience

1 day per week working from home
