SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 SEMH Support) Location: Blackpool, Lancashire (FY1-FY4) Salary: £102.83 - £125.00 per day (Weekly Pay) Contract: Full-Time, Temp-to-Perm Start Date: Monday, 13th April 2026 The Opportunity Are you a resilient, calm, and empathetic mentor? We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant to work within a vibrant Blackpool school. This role is specifically designed to support a student with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) centered around Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a Temp-to-Perm position. You will start via the agency for the summer term (12 weeks), with the intention of joining the school's permanent staff in September 2026 based on a successful placement. Key Responsibilities Targeted 1:1 Support: Implement specific strategies outlined in the student's EHCP to promote engagement and emotional regulation. De-escalation & Wellbeing: Use trauma-informed approaches and positive behaviour management (Team Teach/restorative practice) to navigate challenging moments. Academic Scaffolding: Work alongside the Class Teacher to adapt learning materials, ensuring the curriculum is accessible and non-overwhelming. Progress Tracking: Maintain daily logs and provide feedback for EHCP Annual Reviews, working closely with the SENCO and parents. Who You Are Resilient: You have the "Blackpool grit" needed to stay calm and consistent when students are overwhelmed. Experienced: Previous experience with SEMH, ADHD, or ASC is essential. We also welcome applications from Youth Workers, Sports Coaches, or Psychology Graduates. Reliable: You understand that for an EHCP student, consistency is everything.
