We are working with a Principal Contractor based in London who specialises in Commercial and industrial design and build electrical projects and are actively seeking an Electrical Designer to join their dynamic and close-knit team.

Electrical Designer Role Overview

The Electrical Designer will be responsible for producing detailed electrical designs for commercial projects, ensuring all systems are compliant, coordinated, and delivered to the highest standards. The role involves working closely with project managers, estimators, and installation teams from concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop electrical designs, schematics, and layout drawings for commercial and industrial projects.

* Carry out lighting and small power designs in accordance with current standards and client requirements.

* Produce cable calculations, load assessments, and circuit schedules.

* Ensure compliance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and other relevant standards.

* Liaise with clients, consultants, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design solutions.

* Prepare technical submissions, specifications, and design documentation.

* Provide technical support to site teams during installation and commissioning stages.

* Attend design coordination and client meetings as required.

Skills & Experience

* Proven experience as an Electrical Designer or Design Engineer in commercial building services.

* Strong knowledge of electrical design standards and building services systems.

* Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design software (e.g. Amtech, Relux/Dialux).

* Excellent understanding of lighting design principles and energy efficiency standards.

* Ability to interpret architectural and mechanical drawings.

* Strong communication and coordination skills.

Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

* HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).

* City & Guilds 18th Edition (BS 7671) preferred.

* Relevant design or CAD qualifications advantageous
