Electrical Engineer (HVAC/HVDC)
Electrical Engineer (HVAC/HVDC) for a major Offshore Wind Project based in The Uk Responsibilities A focus on electrical components in HVAC and HVDC substations, with: * Technical expertise in HVAC/HVDC electrical components including switchgear, control and protection, metering, transformers, reactors, LV systems, HVDC components etc. * RCAs in case of component failures * Preparation and review of technical documentation and involvement in the related tender, contract and procurement process for our projects * Technical management of related electrical works on project construction sites * Technical lead in supplier and product prequalification process * Technical lead in factory audits Application and further development of relevant internal standards, regulations, norms and best practice * Project reporting and development of processes and procedures * A hands-on approach to engineering * Work closely with other package teams within the projects and in the line organisation * Provide support for the development of the wider electrical systems including the offshore & onshore substations, foundations and SCADA systems. * Ensuring a robust through life design of the project's electrical components * Development of specifications, subsequent TQ clarifications and ensuring specification compliance with selected consultants and contractors * A strong focus on safety through design and through life performance of the assets * Supporting the progression of the electrical system design, procurement and project management of the electrical component parts in liaison with the Lead Electrical Engineer * Close liaison with technical experts in the Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Department and Engineers working on similar projects to ensure their knowledge is effectively utilised on the project * Co-ordination and management of interfaces with other major construction packages, such as substations and foundations, in co-operation with other Engineers and Package Managers Requirements University degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Several years of relevant work experience as an electrical component specialist High-end expertise regarding rating, design and testing - the optimum would be work experience gained within a manufacturer, or an Offshore Wind Farm Developer Relevant experience regarding related project work, especially in the fields of technical specification writing and negotiations
