Apply NowWe are supporting a specialist M&E Contractor with UK and European operations and a £300M T/O.We are looking for an experienced Pre-construction Project Manager with an Electrical background and strong electrical or telecoms construction experience to take projects from client brief, tender through to kick off in a client-facing role.This is a technically focused pre-construction role working on projects circa £100M, requiring someone who can take an early-stage client brief, interrogate the requirement and develop it into a practical, commercially viable project solution. You will work closely with clients, estimating, design, commercial, operational teams and the supply chain to establish the scope, technical solution, cost, programme, methodology, risks and procurement strategy required to deliver the project.The position will suit you if you have an electrical contracting, telecoms infrastructure, M&E environment who combines practical project delivery knowledge with strong pre-construction and commercial awareness.
You will:
Engage with clients at the earliest stage to understand and develop the initial project brief.
Review technical requirements, drawings, specifications and site information to establish a clear project scope.
Develop the proposed electrical/telecoms solution and delivery methodology.
Produce and develop project programmes, cost plans and tender deliverables.
Work with estimating and commercial teams to ensure costs, assumptions, risks and opportunities are properly captured.
Engage specialist subcontractors and suppliers to obtain technical input, quotations and programme information.
Identify buildability, logistical, procurement and programme risks before tender submission.
Support tender reviews and presentations, providing the technical and delivery input required to secure projects.
Ensure the proposed solution is practical, competitive and deliverable.
Lead an effective preconstruction-to-delivery handover once a project is secured, ensuring the operational team understands the specification, supplier quotations and customer requirements.
You will have:
Strong background in electrical construction, telecoms infrastructure, M&E.
Ideally HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a comparable technical qualification.
Experience taking projects from initial enquiry / concept through scope development, costing, programming and tender.
Good understanding of electrical systems, installation methodologies and construction delivery.
Able to interrogate a client's requirement rather than simply price an existing specification.
Commercially aware, with experience reviewing project costs, supplier/subcontractor quotations and potential risks.
