Embedded Software Engineer

Embedded Software Engineer Location: Wakefield Salary: Up to £55,000 The Opportunity An established and forward-thinking engineering company based in Wakefield is growing its development team and seeking a skilled Embedded Software Engineer. The Role You will play a key role in the full lifecycle of embedded system development, including: * Designing and developing embedded systems from concept through to production * Writing high-quality, maintainable C code * Working within RTOS environments * Contributing to system architecture and technical decision-making * Collaborating closely with hardware engineers and senior leadership Essential Skills & Experience * Strong programming skills in C * Experience working with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr) * Microcontroller development experience (STM32, Microchip PIC, Nordic preferred) * Knowledge of communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, CAN, and DALI * Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline Desirable Experience * Wireless technologies (BLE, Thread, Zigbee) * Application-level development in C, C++ or Python * Version control using Git About You You are an experienced Embedded Software Engineer who thrives in a collaborative, smaller-team environment where your contribution genuinely matters.
