Engineering Technician

The Job:
Role Purpose
The Engineering Technician is responsible for carrying out maintenance, inspection, and repair activities across shredders, conveyors, and rotating plant including site maintenance and infrastructure. The role supports both reactive and planned maintenance tasks, ensuring equipment is maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Enva procedures and statutory requirements. Successful candidates will be required to attend other sites within Leicester.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Activities – Shredders, Conveyors & Rotating Plant
Carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance on shredders, conveyors, gearboxes, motors, bearings, and rotating equipment.
Complete routine inspections, lubrication, belt tracking, chain adjustment, and component replacement.
Support breakdown response and fault finding on process plant
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
Undertake PPM tasks in line with the site maintenance schedule.
Record all completed work accurately within the CMMS or approved systems.
Report defects, wear, or emerging failures identified during inspections.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Work in accordance with H&S procedures, RAMS, and permit systems.
Carry out isolations and lock-off in line with LOTO requirements.
Support compliance with PUWER, LOLER, and manufacturer requirements.
Team & Site Support
Work under the direction of the Engineering Lead Technician or Operations Manager.
Support shutdowns, overhauls, and planned works.
Maintain good housekeeping standards in work areas.
Authority & Accountability
The Engineering Technician is accountable for completing assigned maintenance tasks safely and to the required standard and must stop work and escalate where unsafe conditions or equipment non-compliance are identified.
The Person:
Competency & Training Requirements
Recognised mechanical or electrical engineering qualification or apprenticeship.
Experience maintaining conveyors, shredders, and rotating plant.
PUWER awareness (mandatory).
LOLER awareness (where lifting equipment is involved).
Manual handling and isolation/LOTO training.
Driving Licence(mandatory)
