English Teacher (Maternity Cover) Location: Darlington, County Durham Contract: Full-time, Maternity Cover Key Stages: KS3-KS4 Start Date: April 2026 About the Role A well-regarded secondary school in Darlington is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join their successful department on a maternity cover basis from April 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop strong literacy skills, critical thinking, and a love for literature. Role Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum Teach across KS3 and KS4, including both Language and Literature Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and confidence Differentiate lessons to support students of varying abilities Monitor and assess student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback Prepare students for assessments and GCSE examinations Contribute to departmental planning and resource development Support enrichment activities such as reading programmes or extracurricular clubs Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent Experience teaching English at KS3-KS4 Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature Excellent classroom management and communication skills A genuine passion for teaching and inspiring young people About Us Tradewind Recruitment is a leading education recruitment agency with over 25 years of experience supporting schools and teachers across the UK.
