Environmental Protection Officer (Contract)

Location: Derbyshire (office-based)
Hours: Approx. 15 hours per week (flexible working days)
Start Date: Mid-June to early July

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Environmental Protection Officer to join a Local Authority on a part-time contract basis. This is a great opportunity for a capable professional seeking flexible working arrangements while contributing to key public health and environmental protection services.

Key Responsibilities

* Investigate statutory nuisance complaints and take appropriate enforcement action where required

* Manage a range of public health issues, including waste accumulations and filthy/verminous properties

* Provide expert advice on licensing applications

* Conduct pest and rodent investigations, including work under the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949

* Utilise enforcement tools such as Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) and Community Protection Notices (CPNs)

Essential Experience

* Proven experience in a Local Authority Environmental Protection/Health role

* Strong background in statutory nuisance investigations and enforcement

* Experience dealing with public health concerns, including environmental health hazards

* Knowledge and practical application of CPWs and CPNs

* Experience in pest control investigations and relevant legislation

* Ability to manage caseloads independently and make sound enforcement decisions
