Essential Skills Assessor Salary: £24,500 – £27,800 Location: Cardiff (Hybrid – 2–3 days in the office) Contract: Full-time, Permanent Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00am – 16:30pm About the Organisation We are working on behalf of a market-leading Welsh-based training provider with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, learner-focused programmes across Wales. The Essential Skills Assessor will provide comprehensive support to apprenticeship learners throughout their programme, ensuring they develop the skills and knowledge required to succeed. You will be responsible for training and assessing learners against the criteria set by the relevant awarding body for Essential Skills Wales in: Literacy Numeracy Digital Literacy Key Responsibilities Deliver literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy support through workshops and one-to-one sessions Ensure learners achieve Essential Skills qualifications and meet Framework requirements Register, conduct, and invigilate controlled tasks in line with awarding body requirements Prepare and mark assessments and participate in standardisation activities Engage learners and employers to drive qualification attainment and skills development Maintain quality standards set by internal and external quality assurers Keep accurate and up-to-date assessment records Monitor learner progress and ensure timely completion of documentation Deliver high-quality training programmes to assigned learners/clients Travel within a regional area to assess learners in the workplace Support the planning, monitoring, and achievement of performance targets Essential Criteria Experience of Work Based Learning and Awarding Body practices Experience delivering Essential Skills Qualifications Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle Willingness to undergo a DBS check (cost covered) and register with the EWC Desirable Recognised teaching or assessing qualification (A1 Assessor Award, TAQA, CAVA, or equivalent) Welsh speaking If you’re passionate about supporting learners, committed to high-quality delivery, and looking to join a respected training provider making a real impact across Wales, we would love to hear from you
