Estimating Engineer £40,000 - £55,000 Mon - Thurs 0700 to 1630 & Fri 0700 to 1100 Bishops Stortford Permanent Client Overview: The client is a leading Components and Manufacturing company, who specialise in Aviation. Role Overview: * To play a key role in the submission of quotations and tenders on behalf of the company. * To determine the manufacturing cost of parts within quotation requests coming into the business. * You will estimate the costs and timescales for completion, and work closely with site managers, purchasing and engineers to ensure accuracy of bids. * You will also be acting as a commercial interface between the Company and its customers. Responsibilities: * To estimate the manufacturing and sale cost of CNC 3, 4, 5 Axis Milling and Turning work packages. * Obtain material, bought out and treatment prices and lead-times. * Determine the best machine tool for the parts and checking capacity. * Produce accurate costing estimates in response to customers’ requirements. * Understand the Bid/No Bid process to prioritise workload. * Read and assess engineering drawings confidently, be able to interpret MODELS using various viewers. * Ensure that Customer expectations are met and exceeded and identify areas for improvement. * Preparation of quotes and submitting them. Putting a compliant bid together as instructed in the RFPs. * Liaise with internal colleagues and subject matter experts regarding set-up, routings, and other technical aspects. * Perform any other duties within your capabilities as required by the Company. * Stay compliant to company processes and procedures. * Update the bid register and use data to improve success. Experience / Qualifications: * Estimating manufacturing times within CNC milling in 3,4,5-axis / CNC Turning / and minor Assembly. * Previous experience in estimating and costing is essential. * Experience within an aerospace, or precision engineering environment is essential. * Experience working with Titanium, Aluminium and Steel. * Ability to obtain material, AGS and treatment quotations, and working with suppliers and procurement to secure long term pricing. * Prior CNC Milling and Turning experience. * Proactive, with an ability to work to deadlines is essential. * Proficient in the use of MS Office programs, particularly Excel and CATIA. * Must be capable of producing work to a high standard
