Estimator / Contracts Manager – Roofing & Cladding Location: Essex Salary: £40,000 – £70,000 DOE Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role We are a small, tight-knit roofing and cladding contractor in Essex with an annual turnover of £4–5 million. We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Contracts Manager to join our team and take responsibility for estimating, contract management, and project delivery. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in leadwork, slating, tiling, and flat roofing systems, and be comfortable managing multiple projects from tender through to completion. Key Responsibilities * Prepare accurate estimates and costings for roofing and cladding projects * Manage contracts from award to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification * Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams * Conduct site visits and surveys to support tender submissions * Monitor project financials, including budgets, variations, and final accounts * Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality standards, and contract requirements * Support business growth by identifying opportunities and improving estimating processes Requirements * Proven experience in roofing and cladding, including leadwork, slating, tiling, and flat roofing systems * Experience as an Estimator, Contracts Manager, or Senior Contracts/Project Manager in a similar sector * Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial management * Excellent organisational, communication, and negotiation skills * Ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines * Full UK driving licence What’s on Offer * Competitive salary: £40k–£70k depending on experience * Varied and hands-on projects across Essex and surrounding areas * Small, friendly office environment with a collaborative team * Opportunity to shape processes and contribute to business growth
