Facade Designer

I am currently working with a well established Building Envelope contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Façade Designer to join their growing technical team based in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity for a designer who wants to be heavily involved throughout the entire project lifecycle, from pre-construction design development through to construction and final handover. The successful candidate will play a key role within the project team, working closely with internal departments, architects and clients to ensure the façade design meets both the architectural intent and project scope. Key Responsibilities * Produce detailed façade design drawings and specifications * Prepare 2D and 3D models, sketches and technical drawings to demonstrate design concepts, technical solutions and installation details * Develop fabrication drawings ready for the procurement and manufacturing stages * Compile handover documentation including O&M manuals at project completion * Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers and internal project teams to ensure correct documentation flow * Carry out design risk assessments alongside the wider project team * Attend design meetings, workshops and site visits to review progress and resolve design challenges * Work alongside project engineers to ensure structural calculations and design validations are in place * Ensure façade systems comply with building regulations, industry standards and relevant technical guidance Requirements * Experience working as a Façade Designer / Cladding Designer / Building Envelope Designer * Background in façade, cladding, curtain walling or building envelope systems * Strong experience producing technical drawings and design documentation * Ability to work collaboratively with architects, engineers and project delivery teams * Knowledge of UK building regulations and façade industry standards What’s on Offer * Opportunity to join a growing specialist façade contractor * Involvement in high-profile façade and building envelope projects * Strong technical team and supportive working environment * Competitive salary depending on experience If this opportunity could be of interest, please apply or contact Luke Thompson directly for a confidential discussion
