Field Service Engineer
Field Service Engineer Location: Covering North UK and Scotland Salary: Up to £53,500 Basic + Overtime + Company Car We are recruiting on behalf of a leading global manufacturer of high-speed packaging machinery. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically qualified Field Service Engineer to join a well-established European field service team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring high-speed packaging equipment operates safely, reliably, and at optimum efficiency (targeting 98%+ uptime). The Role As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of advanced electro-mechanical packaging machinery at customer sites. You will take a proactive approach to machine performance, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement, ensuring minimal downtime for customers. Key Responsibilities * Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of high-speed packaging machinery * Install, commission, and obtain customer acceptance of new equipment * Proactively monitor machine performance and maximise operational efficiency * Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and planned replacement of worn components * Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults * Escalate complex issues when required to ensure swift resolution * Support and develop customer operators and maintenance teams * Create and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) where required * Ensure appropriate tools, spare parts, and consumables are available * Contribute to continuous improvement of equipment design and service delivery Requirements * 3–5 years’ experience installing, maintaining, and repairing electro-mechanical machinery * Strong electrical qualifications (essential) * Practical knowledge of PLCs and mechatronic systems * Experience within packaging machinery (desirable) * Experience within FMCG or similar high-speed manufacturing environments (essential) * Customer-focused and able to work independently * Performance-driven with a proactive mindset * Willingness to travel across the Bristol to Sheffield corridor, with wider UK and occasional European travel Package * Basic salary up to £53,500 * Company car * Overtime paid at enhanced rates: * Monday–Friday: x1.5 * Saturday/Sunday/Bank Holidays: x2 * Flexible hour banking system (up to 16 hours accrued either way before overtime applies) * Opportunity to develop within a highly skilled and supportive European team
