Finance Assistant
We’re recruiting a Finance Assistant to support a growing finance function, with an immediate start available. This is a varied, hands‑on role that covers core transactional finance and offers strong exposure to financial reporting, reconciliations, fund tracking and analysis.
The role is well suited to an experienced Finance Assistant or Assistant Accountant who enjoys working with data, supporting month‑end processes and contributing to meaningful financial insight, while still remaining involved in day‑to‑day operational finance activity.

The Company
Seymour John are partnering with a well‑established organisation based in the Coventry region that is looking to recruit a Finance Assistant to join their team. The business is well regarded for its positive working environment and strong team culture.
The Opportunity
Key responsibilities will include:
Financial Reporting & Month‑End Support
* Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss and balance sheet schedules
* Produce reconciliations, supporting working papers and variance analysis
* Ensure financial information is accurate, complete and audit‑ready
* Assist with year‑end and audit preparation
Fund & Programme Reporting
* Maintain fund‑level trackers, ensuring accurate allocation of income and costs
* Prepare financial schedules and reporting packs
* Support funder reporting requirements and guarantee or claim processes
Financial Analysis & Insight
* Track budget performance and highlight variances, risks and trends
* Provide financial data to support forecasting and planning
* Work closely with senior finance colleagues to support informed decision‑making
Systems, Data & Process Improvement
* Maintain and improve spreadsheets, trackers and reporting tools
* Ensure consistency and integrity across finance systems
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes
Operational Finance Support
* Support key finance processes including reconciliations, transaction processing and system updates
* Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in line with controls
* Respond to finance‑related queries and provide cover during busy periods
Personal Profile
* AAT qualified (minimum) or part‑qualified ACCA / CIMA
* Experience in a finance or accounting role, with exposure to reporting or month‑end processes
* Good understanding of core accounting principles (accruals, prepayments, reconciliations)
* Experience supporting the preparation of financial reports
* Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
* High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
* Able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
