Fire Alarm Supervisor
This is a hands-on position suited to a Supervisor who can lead by example, combining strong technical expertise with team leadership, quality control, and client liaison across commercial and residential sites throughout London and the surrounding areas. The successful candidate will play a key role in building and overseeing the local team, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and in full compliance with British Standards and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise fire alarm installation, service, fault-finding, and commissioning activities
* Lead and manage engineers on-site, providing technical guidance and support
* Ensure all works comply with BS 5839 and relevant fire safety regulations
* Plan daily workloads, allocate resources, and monitor progress against schedules
* Carry out quality checks and ensure documentation is completed accurately
* Act as the main point of contact for clients, site managers, and main contractors
* Support project handovers, testing, certification, and system demonstrations
* Maintain high standards of health & safety and enforce safe working practices
* Assist with training and mentoring junior engineers
Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in fire alarm systems (install, service, commissioning)
* Previous experience in a supervisory or lead engineer role
* Strong working knowledge of BS 5839
* Ability to read drawings, specifications, and system designs
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
* Competent with fault diagnosis across conventional and addressable systems
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications
* FIA Units (or equivalent)
* NVQ Level 3 in Fire & Security or Electrical Installation
* IPAF / PASMA
* SMSTS or SSSTS
* ECS / CSCS Card
