Working as part of a specialist Central Fire Safety team - and reporting directly to the Head of Fire Safety - you’ll play a key role in protecting people, property, and pioneering research environments. Your responsibilities will include: * Conducting and reviewing fire risk assessments across complex buildings * Leading audits, inspections, and compliance reviews * Supporting emergency planning and fire drills * Advising on events, refurbishments, and major construction projects * Investigating fire incidents and alarm activations * Liaising with Fire & Rescue Services, building control, and contractors * Delivering tailored fire safety training to staff across the university What we’re looking for * NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate (or equivalent) * Proven experience in operational fire safety management and FRA delivery * Strong working knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and PAS 79 * Experience with passive and active fire protection systems * A confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels * A proactive mindset with a passion for driving high safety standards What’s on offer * 25 days holiday + 7 shut down days + bank holidays * USS pension scheme (14.5% employer / 6.1% employee contribution) * Season ticket loan and additional benefits upon completion of probation * Full-time, permanent role (Monday–Friday, rota: 08:00–16:00 or 09:00–17:00) * A genuine opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a prestigious environment This role is ideal for a fire safety professional ready to step into a position where their expertise will be valued, visible, and impactful every day
